Which photo cleaner app fits your iPhone library?
Compare documented iPhone photo-cleaner workflows from Pixtrim, Swipewipe, Slidebox and Cleaner Guru, with native Photos options and clear research limits.

Choose the cleanup task before choosing an app. A swipe review, album sorter, duplicate workflow and broader utility suite solve different problems. There is no useful single “best” choice without knowing which job you need done.
Start with the free native option
Apple Photos already supports multi-select deletion, media-type collections and detected-duplicate merging on supported versions. If that solves your task, you may not need another app. See the native duplicate workflow or screenshot guide first.
An additional app can be useful when its review interface or focused cleanup groups suit the way you want to work. That is a workflow decision, not proof that the native library is inadequate.
Compare the workflow, not the superlative
| Option | Documented focus | What to evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| Pixtrim | Left/right swipe review, month/album cleanup, exact duplicates and focused media finders | Whether a deliberate cleanup session fits your library |
| Swipewipe | Month-based swiping, review before deletion and additional photo features in its listing | Which current features and paid/free limits you need |
| Slidebox | Sorting photos into albums, favorites, comparison and swipe-up trash | Whether album organization is the main task |
| Cleaner Guru | A broader advertised suite, including media, contact/email cleanup and compression | Whether you want those broader tools and permissions |

For photo-by-photo decisions, look at the review flow
Pixtrim and Swipewipe both document swipe decisions and a final review stage. Pixtrim is not the only app with this pattern. A useful evaluation is whether you can recognize the current image, keep uncertain items and understand the final removal selection.
Pixtrim’s swipe feature is designed around that task. Its large-video, screenshot and blurry-photo review areas provide more focused starting sets. These should not be confused with video compression or image enhancement.
For albums or broader tools, ask a different question
Slidebox’s official materials emphasize tapping an album to sort a photo and swiping up to mark trash. That is a different emphasis from simply reducing a month’s unwanted extras. Use the Slidebox comparison if album organization is your goal.
Cleaner Guru’s App Store description advertises a broader suite. Pixtrim does not promise its contacts, email or compression capabilities. More features are useful only if you actually need them and understand their access and purchase conditions.
Check the conditions before committing
Free to download is not the same as unlimited free use. Check each app’s current purchase sheet for plan period, renewal price, feature access and trial eligibility. We do not present one universal checkout price or claim that Pixtrim is the cheapest option.
Whatever you choose, preserve independent copies of valuable media. An app does not bypass iCloud Photos deletion synchronization, and a confirmation screen does not guarantee that every user choice is correct.
How this guide was researched
This is a documented-feature comparison by Pixtrim, the app behind this website. We reviewed official developer pages and US App Store descriptions on October 26, 2026. We did not run timed device tests, measure detection accuracy, purchase competing subscriptions or score a winner. Developer descriptions are not independent test results.
