Does deleting an iPhone album delete its photos?
Deleting an album and deleting its library photos are different actions. Understand album removal, shared collections and camera-roll cleanup before confirming.

Deleting an ordinary personal album removes that album’s organization; the photos remain in your library. To remove the actual media, you need a library deletion action and its confirmation. Shared albums and shared libraries have their own behavior.
An album is an arrangement of library items
A personal album helps you group photos. The same image can be part of an album while remaining in the main library. Removing that album is not the same as discarding the photo’s underlying library item.
This makes albums useful for organization, but it also explains why deleting an album may not free the amount of storage you expected. You removed the arrangement, not necessarily the files.
Read whether the action says remove or delete
Photos can offer different actions depending on the view and item. Removing a picture from an album and deleting it from the library are different choices. Read the option and confirmation rather than inferring its meaning from a trash-like symbol or a disappearing thumbnail.
For current album controls, use Apple’s album-management guide for your iOS version. Collections and Albums layouts can differ, so a long-press or menu location should not be assumed identical across releases.
Do not apply personal-album rules to every shared feature
Shared Albums and iCloud Shared Photo Library are distinct features with their own permissions and deletion rules. The person who contributed an item, how the library is configured and the action you take can matter.
If the image is shared, identify which service you are using before removing it. Keep independent copies of important media and follow Apple’s instructions for that specific shared feature. A general personal-album tutorial is not a universal guide to every shared collection.
Choose organization or cleanup deliberately
If your aim is a tidier browsing structure, managing albums may be enough. If you want to remove unwanted library items, review and delete those items explicitly, understanding iCloud synchronization.
Pixtrim supports photo cleanup by month or album and a review step before confirmation. It should not be presented as a full professional album-management or cloud-organization system. Its role is to make a cleanup batch easier to review.
A smaller review session can be a better next step
Pick one album whose contents you recognize, keep the photos that matter and mark only the extras. Before confirming, make sure the selected action removes the media you intend—not an unrelated album or shared contribution.
Read the bulk-selection guide for native deletion, or explore month-by-month cleanup when you want a more manageable starting point.
