How to recover photos from Recently Deleted on iPhone

Find Recently Deleted, recover selected iPhone photos when available, and understand the limits. Pixtrim is a review tool, not a photo-recovery service.

Open Recently Deleted in Photos, unlock it if prompted, select the items you want back, then choose Recover and confirm. Act promptly: the collection has a limited recovery period and is not a guarantee that every deleted item can be restored.

Look in the system’s recovery collection

Find Recently Deleted under Utilities in Photos. Collections is the starting point in newer layouts; older versions may use Albums. Authenticate if requested. Review the available items and their remaining time, then recover the specific photos or videos you need.

Apple normally describes a 30-day recovery window. After permanent removal or expiry, the item may no longer be recoverable through that collection. Apple also warns that when an iCloud storage limit is exceeded, deleted media can be removed immediately rather than remaining available for recovery.

If you do not see the photo

Check that you are looking at the intended library and account. A picture may have been moved out of an album without being deleted from the library, hidden from a view, or stored in another independently managed location. Missing from one screen is not always the same as deleted.

Look for a separately preserved copy if you have one. A second synchronized iCloud Photos device is not necessarily independent: deletions can propagate there too. Avoid paying for a service based on an unsupported promise that every permanently deleted iPhone photo can be recovered.

Recover first, then reassess your cleanup

If recovery succeeds, open the restored item and check that it is the one you wanted. Preserve a separate copy if it is especially important. You can return to cleanup later after you understand why it was selected.

For future sessions, choose a smaller group and review marked items before confirming. A short pause at selection time can be more useful than relying on the recovery collection after a rushed batch.

Pixtrim helps with review, not forensic recovery

Pixtrim gives you a swipe-based way to review your camera roll and a final selection check before native deletion. It does not provide a guaranteed recovery service or bypass the operating system’s deletion rules.

Our review-before-delete workflow is designed around deliberate choices. Keep uncertain photos and verify backups instead of treating a possible undo window as permission to remove them.
